PHEV Back Up Camera

Wed Nov 14, 2018 7:44 pm

Just bought a new 2018 PHEV. Back up camera is out of focus. Right side camera is OK. Dealer says no problem. Any thoughts?

I'm assuming you (and/or the dealer) cleaned the lens.
The camera on our Electric version isn't super clear, but it is consistent and not out of focus in any area.

If you can get a picture, we might be able to help a bit more?

My first thought was that the protective plastic film hadn't been removed from the lens! The lens was clean, but I wiped it anyway - no change in resolution. I will try to post a picture tomorrow. The side-view cam continues to give a clear image. Thanks for your input.

Sent you a private message, but you cannot load or attach pictures on this board, you must link to it on another site (Imgur, etc).

I have checked other Clarities and an Accord; all have poor resolution on their rear cameras. Very disappointing.
Thanks again for your support. D.

So I’ve been reading the web version of the Owner’s Guide:

http://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/pubs ... /index.HTM

There are three views under DRIVING -> Multi-View Rear Camera: Normal, Wide, and Top down.

The online Owner’s Manual clarifies this a little by claiming there are supposedly three icons to choose from for the three different views. If set to Wide or Normal, the selected mode will be used every time you shift into R. If Top down is selected, most likely Wide view will return next time shifted into R.
