Re: AC effective in hot weather? Clarity EV

Thanks for the feedback. My car was sitting for a while, which seems to be related. After driving it around, it seems to be able to cool.

Will take it to the dealer when it's convenient.

Really enjoying the car, yeah, it could use a bigger battery, but then it wouldn't be the lease price it is.

AC effective in hot weather? Clarity EV

90F, call parked in full sun w windows closed ... Certainly hotter inside. The AC was unable to cool the air. This is a dark gray car w white interior.

The AC is working. When the car wasn't so hot there was some cold air coming out of the vents.

Trip to the dealer in order?

Re: Tint or one-way film for trunk window?

Does the PHEV have a trunk window? I've seen (must be two different) PHEVs on the roads, and it doesn't seem like the rear window (trunk window) is see through. Maybe tinting/obscuring the trunk window is something the dealer's are doing as an add-on?

Re: Full Electric Availability

@jzchen - thanks for your response. I updated the maps (while driving, I cannot recommend that ). Someone else wrote it took them two tries, for me as well. Same USB stick, nothing changed there. Walk away auto lock is still a bit of a mystery. So far my hypothesis is that if I move quickly, the car...

Re: Tint or one-way film for trunk window?

I think I will try "one way" film on the trunk window first. I haven't experimented with whether I need to be able to look out through that viewport while driving. Thanks. Really enjoy the car, want a "real" trunk. For instance, to keep charging cables :-) . I was truly surprised to come back to the...

Tint or one-way film for trunk window?

I saw a Clarity PHEV last night which had a very dark trunk window. I don't know whether they blocked it, dark tint, or something else. Has anyone tried this? Tips? In another post I lamented the trunk window can illuminate the trunk area, making it easy for the bad guys to decide to shop from your ...

Re: Full Electric Availability

More experience: The see through "trunk" is a fatal flaw. I would never buy a Clarity (as much as I enjoy driving the EV). Yesterday, when I parked, the sun was shining through the rear "trunk" window and the "trunk" was completely illuminated. Everything in there was visible. Voice recognition actu...

Re: (EV?) power used by Air Conditioning

Air conditioning. The inside temp was over 100F, and this brought it down to ~80F. Charging had completed, so only residual loads and AC. I would imagine heat has higher consumption (resistive heating in the Clarity, like the Fit?)

Re: Full Electric Availability

I've had a chance to drive it more. I definitely enjoy the car. It has a very different character than the Fit-EV. The Fit is a bit more like a zippy go cart, maybe the feeling that Mini drivers enjoy. The Clarity is a "real" car. I've not looked extensively, but I think the miles/kWH is similar or ...

(EV?) power used by Air Conditioning

.59 kW, as reported by a Chargepoint pedestal. Does that seem right?
